

There are 105 Member countries of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This includes 10 Full Members, 36 Associate Members and 59 Affiliate Members.
The Pepsi ICC Development Programme is tasked with building a bigger, better global game by assisting the 95 Associate and Affiliate Members (AMs) grow and improve the standard of cricket within their territories.
Some better known AMs include Ireland, USA, Kenya, China and Papua New Guinea. Others include Brazil, Sierra Leone, The Maldives, Greece and Samoa.
The Development Programme was launched in 1997. The amount of cricket being played in AMs has increased five-fold over the past 10 years, to the point where there are approximately
750,000 male and female participants currently involved in formal cricket programmes outside the Full Member nations. The ICC has set an ambitious strategic target of more than doubling this number to over
1.5 million participants by 2015.The Development Programme has a dedicated
High Performance Programme that assists the top AMs improve both their on and off field performance. The progress of Ireland and Afghanistan in particular have been recent highlights, as was the first class fixture between an ICC AM Combined XI and England in early 2012.
The Development Programme is responsible for implementing
ICC's global event qualifying structures. Through regional and global qualifying tournaments, all AMs have the opportunity to compete in the ICC World T20 and the ICC Cricket World Cup. The Cricket World Cup qualifying structure is called the
ICC World Cricket League.
Qualifying events for the ICC Women's World Cup, ICC Women's World T20 and the ICC U/19 Cricket World Cup are also conducted, as well as a four-day first class competition for the top eight AMs, the ICC Intercontinental Cup.
Attracting more females to cricket, and improving the standard of the Women's game at the highest international level, are also priorities of the Development Programme. Although global in it objectives, the Development Progamme is largely delivered through five regional offices: namely
Africa ,
Americas ,
Asia,
East Asia- Pacific and
Europe.
Regional areas of focus include improving domestic playing structures, education programmes and facilities, and providing equipment, resources and promotional materials to AMs.
The Development Programme is managed from the ICC Headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The ICC Global Development Manager is Tim Anderson.
