The ICC Cricket World Cup is the showpiece event of the cricket calendar and takes place every four years, with matches contested in a 50 overs per side format. The 2011 tournament was won by co-hosts India. The 2015 event will take place in Australia and New Zealand.
The ICC World Twenty20 is a bi-annual tournament the 2010 event took place in West Indies, with the men's and women's tournament running alongside one another, England won the men's and Australia the women's. The next event will take place in Sri Lanka in 2012, while Bangladesh will host the tournament in 2014.
The ICC Women's World Cup was staged in Sydney, Australia in March 2009 and was the first to be played under the auspices of the ICC since its merger with the International Women's Cricket Council (IWCC) in 2005. The next event will be held in India in 2013, the ICC Women's World Cup qualifier which Ireland women and Netherlands women will take part in is to be held in Bangladesh in November 2011.
The ICC U19 Cricket World Cup is the leading development tournament for international cricket's stars of the future and takes place every two years. The previous winners of the event so far have been Australia (1988, 2002, 2010), England (1998), India (2000 and 2008) and Pakistan (2004 and 2006). The next event will take place in 2012 in Australia.
The Pepsi ICC World Cricket League has been created to provide regular global one-day cricket opportunities to those countries outside the Test playing world. It is an eight-division structure and includes members from Europe to contest in one-day cricket across the globe. There are several tournaments a year.
The ICC Intercontinental Cup is the first-class cricket tournament for the leading Associate and Affiliate Members of the ICC. Afghanistan won the competition for the first time in 2010.ICC Europe
