In excess of 100,000 ICC Cricket World Cup tickets were released for the first phase of online ticket sales that went online on 1 June 2010 and the prices began at as low as 20c USD.
Tickets for the 12 games in Sri Lanka, which will take place between 20 February - 29 March, 2011, are available from Thursday 21 October 2010 and cricket fans that make reservations, will be able to collect their physical tickets during the first week of February 2011.
Reservations can be made in Kandy at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium and in Hambantota, at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium. In Colombo, fans can ensure their places via the official ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Secretariat at the Sri Lanka Cricket Headquarters (35, Maitland Crescent).
14 teams will contest the tournament, which will be played between 19 February-2 April 2011 in the three host countries of India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Australia is the current holders of the tournament and has won the previous editions of the event in 2007, 2003 and 1999.
This is the third time the ICC Cricket World Cup has been held in Asia, with previous tournaments being held in 1987 and 1996.
