In 1992 the ICC introduced a Code of Conduct to cover the behaviour and conduct of international cricketers. This gave match referees the authority to deal with transgressions of the ICC Code during Test matches and One-Day Internationals.
Penalties for breaches of the ICC Code range from an official reprimand to suspension from future international matches.
